First of all we are winegrowers

Joan Grill was born from the desire to transform the grapes we grow on the family farm in Pla de Manlleu into a high-quality organic wine with Denomination of Origin Penedès (DO Penedès) that conveys the characteristics of the land and the surroundings of the Zone +500.

Until 1980, at Cal Joan Grill, as in most farmhouses, wine was made by draft. From then on we limited ourselves to cultivating the vines in order to be able to supply the large wineries of the Penedès, which each time needed to buy more grapes.

At Cal Joan Grill we started organic viticulture in 2010, and after 3 years of conversion, since 2013 we have been able to certify all our production as organic through the Catalan Council for Ecological Agricultural Production (CCPAE).

Working ecologically allows us to respect the environment, the natural resources and the biodiversity of the +500 Zone.

From 2023 we are also processors

In 2006, Xavier Pons, the eldest son of Cal Joan Grill, finished his oenology studies and as a result of his concerns and the help of his brother, Sergi Pons, they started making wine to share with the family and friends

Being the children of farmers and having helped at home from a young age has taught us such important values ​​as effort, perseverance, love for the land, teamwork, and many others. These have allowed us to work towards all the goals we have set for ourselves throughout life, and now, after many years of testing and making wine as a hobby, the time has come to take another step.

In 2023 we produced 2 white wines, El Tiet and El Jornal, and we want to share them with everyone who wants it.

Our wines are organic. Our winery, which currently produces at Viver de Cellers de Vilafranca del Penedès, is certified by the Catalan Council for Ecological Agricultural Production (CCPAE), which certifies that our wines are also organic.
